Dr. Ayre is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor with over 27 years of clinical experience working with adults, adolescents, couples, parents and families.  In addition to his clinical practice, he is a professor at both Rutgers University School of Social Work and Rutgers University Center of Alcohol Studies.  A graduate of Fordham University, Dr. Ayre has developed a reputation for being able to effectively work with individuals and families who have multiple and complex problems.  

Possessing extensive experience working with patients that have a variety of academic, vocational, emotional, psychiatric, legal, family and/or substance abuse problems, he is a member of the National Academy of Certified Social Workers and holds certification as a Clinical Alcohol, Tobacco and other Drugs Social Worker.  Also certified by the State of New Jersey as a Certified Clinical Supervisor and a Certified School Social Worker,  Dr. Ayre has held multiple positions in clinical practice working in several agencies, hospitals and institutions throughout New Jersey.  He has maintained a private psychotherapy practice since 1993 and is the former assistant director of a private school for special needs children.

Extensively lecturing, Dr. Ayre is a dynamic speaker/presenter who has spoken throughout the State on a variety of topics related to mental health, substance abuse and academic underachievement.  He is a professor at Rutgers University's Center of Alcohol Studies, an internationally recognized leader in Alcohol research, education, training and publisher of literature.  The State of New Jersey Court system recognizes him as an expert witness in the area of substance abuse and chemical dependency and he is a member of the prestigious Thomson-Reuters Expert Witness Services (TREWS). 

In addition, Dr. Ayre is a Psychological Consultant/Student Assistance Counselor to a number of private schools and academies in New Jersey.  He is the former Chief Clinical Officer for a nationally recognized non-profit substance abuse rehabilitation facility.  He holds a Doctorate in Addictive Disorders from Breining College, Institute for the Advanced Study of Addictive Disorders.

Dr. Kieran Ayre lives with his wife and children in Northwest New Jersey.  He is a motorcycle enthusiast and a FAA licensed private pilot.
